Meet Our Legislators
Senator Shelly Short
We live in one of the most spectacular parts of our country, a land of mountains, forests, farms, orchards, lakes and rivers. Our district covers a full fifth of the state, and our issues are different than those of Washington’s urban areas. We cherish our rural lifestyle and the freedom that comes with it. We’re interested in economic growth and prosperity, an affordable standard of living, improved services for rural areas, and greater employment and recreational opportunities for all of us living in this region. What works for Seattle often doesn’t work for us – and we need Olympia to know it.

I am humbled by the support I’ve received from so many of you, but also excited to work on your behalf, the patriotic citizens of the “Fighting Seventh.” The key to our success will be hearing from you: my constituents. Hearing about the challenges our district faces, as well as possible solutions that come from you, is of paramount importance to our form of government. As you know, this is YOUR state government!

The hardworking families and individuals in the Seventh are some of the most grounded, common-sense, faithful, and generous people in our state. Being elected to serve them in the Washington State House of Representatives is a privilege and an honor; one that I know comes with great responsibility, and one that I will never take for granted.
